"THESE ARE THE WORST PANS I'VE EVER OWNED" 2010-08-07
By JB15606
Amazon should really discontinue carrying these, they are complete garbage. I was looking for a set of healthier, less-toxic non-stick pans, and at first, thought we were fairly happy with these. The design is cool; it's a neat set, although they are not the heaviest pans in the world if you are a serious cook. They burn butter in no time. We bought the hard-anondized set. Then, after a few months of use, about 3-5 months or so, it was like not only are they NOT non-stick, it's like food is magnetically attracted even more to the pan's surface. We're just going to trash them. I don't even want another set or want to fool with shipping and the warranty. They ruin everything now. Even with butter or oil. Our ancient stainless-steel non-coated pans (that luckily we kept!) work better than these. I researched all of the new "eco" sets before buying, and we got these for Xmas 2009, and now by Summer 2010 they are terrible. It is SO disappointing. Please, do not waste your time on these. When we bought these there were 0 1-star reviews, and now there are 15, and I guarantee there will be more. Maybe better eco sets have come out in the last 7 months, I hope so... Oh, and they are definitely NOT dishwasher safe, as it used to say on Amazon, and still may, I dunno. Handwashing is such a pain in 2010. Work it out, Earth Pan!

"very disappointing" 2010-07-31
By D. Grant (upstate NY, US)
I bought a large fry pan for making stir fry and other large dishes. This pan was a mess from day one. I do not remember what was cooked on it but it left a brown mark. Then we had hotdogs one day and there were hotdog sized marks on the bottom. The last thing I cooked in it was bacon and even that stuck to the non-stick surface. After just a few short months the pan is landfill. (not very earh friendly) I emailed the company and of course I got no response. Disappointing for sure

"Sent product back" 2010-07-25

Pans were too small. Looked good on web site. You really have to see them to realize what you are getting. Shipping was free but return charge was $17.00, what a rip off. I will be more selective about what I buy on line from now on because the cost for shipping to return an item more than offsets any potential purchase savings.

"Great pans after 2 months" 2010-07-18

After getting a new ceramic/glasstop range, we decided to replace our decades-old warped-bottom cast-aluminum pots and pans with a new set with flat bottoms as recommended by the range manufacturer. Based on the advice of a consumers' publication and the mostly-positive comments at Amazon, we purchased the Earthpan 10-piece Hard Anodized Cookware Set about two months ago. When it arrived a few days later we found we had been sent the similar Earthpan 10-pc. Stainless Steel Cookware Set. I quickly re-checked my order and discovered that I had ordered the Stainless Steel set by mistake! After sheepishly admitting my mistake to my wife, we carefully examined the set we received and decided to keep it and try it out. We are very glad we did! The pans appear to be of very high quality, comparable to much higher priced brands which sell sell single pieces at retail for about the price of this whole set! We have cooked (meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, eggs, cereal) in them for about two months (using a small amount of butter, olive, or canola oil as appropriate) and nothing has ever stuck to the pans. The non-stick surfaces appear to be exactly as they were the day we received them. The bright shiny stainless exterior remains as beautiful as new as well. Although it does not affect the cooking capability of the set, they are quite impressive to see on top of the range. Except for the 8-qt stock pot, the entire set stores compactly in the bottom drawer of the range; we nest the pots/pans with dishtowels between them to protect the non-stick surfaces. The well-designed and strongly attached handles stay cool enough that a potholder is not required while cooking on top of the range. One very minor problem occurred with one of the pots when a small slow-dripping leak developed at a handle rivet when the pot was quite full. After a few uses, however, this leak seems to have healed itself. The thick-bottomed pans cook very evenly and retain heat quite well. They may take a slightly longer time to heat up compared to our previous pot/pan and cooktop combination, and we have learned to reduce the heat or turn it off a few minutes before cooking is finished. All in all, our results from cooking with these pots and pans have been excellent. The sizes included with the the 10 piece set are quite useful, especially the 3-quart covered skillet. The glass lids are are especially handy to watch the progress of cooking; however, the handles get hot enough that a potholder may be necessary to remove them. All in all, we are quite satisfied with this set and highly recommend them.

"Follow the Instructions" 2010-07-15

Have used these pans daily for a month now. Go for the stainless and not the hard anodized set as the anodized will stain on the outside (previous set). Follow the directions with the pans. Don't use vegetable oils. Use peanut oil, olive oil, or butter only and cook at a lower temperature than you normally would (pans heat really well and evenly). DON'T use cooking sprays. Clean up is great. Rinse the inside with fresh water to remove the bulk if not all of "stuck on" food then handwash with Dawn and a soft cloth or sponge. Never use steel wool or abrasive cleaners. Hand dry with a soft dishtowel to avoid water spots on the polished stainless steel. I thought it would go without saying but, DO NOT EVER put nonstick or polished stainless steel in the dishwasher. Dishwasher soap is mildly abrasive as is water under any pressure and will eat away at the nonstick coating and dull the stainless. I would buy the set again and would recommend it to my friends. Like you, I read a bunch of these reviews before "taking a chance" with this set. Most either really liked the set or really hated it so I didn't get much from the reviews. I hope that what I've written here has helped in your decision. By the way, Amazon has the best price on this set and best shipping.
